Pam has made a believer out of me! My husband and I had our first child eight years ago and he was extremely colicky. He had problems with both milk and soy formulas and had to be on a hypoallergenic formula(Nutramigen), he also had problems with reflux and was on Zantac and Propulsid. Raising him for the first four months was a nightmare, he screamed constantly. Even though our son is the light of our lives, my husband and I decided not to have more children because the experience was so traumatic. Well...Surprise...I unexpectedly got pregnant with our second son. Everyone assured me, there is no way your second one will be anything like the first. And I had to believe that was true. I gave birth in November and for the first week, we were bragging to everyone how wonderful things were and then like a light switch, it started again. The screaming started, our son would scream up to 5 hours at a time and nothing we did would console him. I started feeling very depressed, I just couldn't go throught this again. We called the doctor's office and started down the same path. We switched the formula several times and even talked about the possibility of reflux. Even though we knew it wouldn't last forever, it did not give much comfort when you are in the middle of a screaming fit and feeling very exhausted. Two different people mentioned to me about Pam Howe and that she claimed to have techniques that could soothe any crying baby. Normally I would not believe this, but my husband and I were desperate and after talking to Pam on the phone, she was so confident and passionate about being able to calm my baby, that I had to try it. We just missed her class, so we had her come to the house. She first showed us a video of Dr. Karp and several babies crying(boy was that a familiar sound) and one by one, Dr. Karp quieted each and every crying baby. Now Pam had our attention. She spent two hours with us and taught us the techniques. From that day on, my son has NOT had a screaming fit since. Don't get me wrong, my son still cries, but nothing like he did, it's normal baby crying. We were able to soothe him when one of his fits would start. I do believe that in the case of our son, switching formulas was one factor, but I think the five "S"'s made a world of difference. Every new parent should know these techniques; they are so simple and make alot of sense. Listening to a screaming baby will drive anyone nuts, and not to mention what it is doing to our little ones. No one should go through that if they don't have to. My husband and I owe our sanity to Pam, thanks to her we are truly enjoying this time with our newborn.--Sherry DePerno 12-30-05

I met Pam in the aisle at Walmart.She had already checked out when she heard my baby crying. I could not get him to stop and I was getting very upset.He has been crying like this on and off for a few weeks.He would have these bursts of screaming that seemed to last forever.My husband and I had tried everything. Pam came over introduced herself, put down her bags and asked if she could show me how to calm my baby. I looked at her like she was nuts, who is this woman I thought?I was so upset that I decided to let her show me.Within seconds she was able to stop my son from crying. I just stood there in complete disbelief. We chatted for a few moments, she gave me her card and I went home and phoned my husband about it. The next day she came to our home to teach our entire family the class. We are so lucky to have met her. My son was 7 weeks at the time and from that day on, we have never had another instance where we weren't able to calm him and soothe him quickly. We can't say enough about the class. We learned so much.We feel like a weight has been lifted.No more screaming fits and we are able to enjoy our son so much more now. Thank you Pam, you are a Godsend and a great educator. I never in a million years thought that we could stop our babys crying so quickly.It really is just like a light switch.We were so skeptical, but out of desperation, we had tried everything else &we called Pam.We are so grateful to have met Pam, she has changed our lives, literally within minutes. This class should be an absolute requirement for every expectant couple. There was so much information about every aspect of a newborn baby. There was no stone left unturned as far as what to expect etc-and after taking the class I feel that I am really prepared now to have this baby. I loved the hands on demonstrations with the swaddling, swing and really all of the techniques.I highly recommend this class. Pam is a great teacher, you can really tell that she loves what she is doing and believe me, she knows her stuff!!!!11-14-06
